Long-term work with computers does affect our musculoskeletal system. Some muscles tend to weaken, being underused. Other muscles tend to get overused and become chronically overworked. In the long run this can cause muscle stiffness, pain and injuries. But this does not have to happen. Our book entitled Stay Healthy in the Office: how office work affects you and how you can undo its harmful effects on your body is a selection of Pilates-based, physiotherapy exercises and stretches. It has been specifically designed to help professionals working in desk-based roles to:

  • Correct common postural misalignments that computer users tend to develop
  • Combat the effects of prolonged sitting
  • Strengthen muscles which tend to weaken when seated for a long time
  • Release muscular tension by stretching over-worked structures
  • Build a balanced body to prevent muscle fatigue while working at the desk
  • Mobilise joints and muscles to make them more resilient
  • Relax to make the musculoskeletal system work more efficiently
